Overview:

Transforming the brain into a reading brain is nothing short of miraculous. Sally Shaywitz and Jonathan Shaywitz thoroughly break down the process of becoming a reader and why some experience significant difficulty learning to read in a completely revised and updated edition of Overcoming Dyslexia. The goals of the authors will serve as guiding questions throughout this study. Authors’ goals are to share cutting-edge scientific knowledge, translate scientific knowledge into action, and ensure compassion and empathy are an integral part of the information shared. 

Learning Outcomes: 

• Understand how the reading brain works and why some do not learn to read. 
• Be able to recognize the characteristics of dyslexia. 
• Understand how the brain transforms into a reading brain. 
• Explore ways to respond and help children become proficient readers. 
• Explore and develop tools and resources to support students with the characteristics of dyslexia.
