Overview:
This course provides a foundation of learning to be built upon over several years. Participants will have an increased understanding of dyslexia, allowing educators to create a classroom environment and instruction supportive of dyslexic students.
Learning Outcomes:
- Increase teacher knowledge of dyslexia.
- Explore Myths vs Facts to address common beliefs and misunderstandings
- Establish a clear understanding of what dyslexia is and what research indicates as differences between a typical reading brain and a dyslexic reading brain.
- Identify strengths and difficulties occurring over ones’ lifetime as a result of the differences within the brain of a dyslexic reader.
- Learn about various ways Tier 1 instruction, accommodations, and supports can support dyslexic students.
Graduate-Level Continuing Education:
A half of (.5) continuing education credit is available through MidAmerica Nazarene University at an additional cost of $90 per credit hour.
