Book Study: The Joyful Teacher

Format: Online Asynchronous Course

Recommended Audience: All educators

Presenter: Dr. Kallie Dace

Overview:

The ongoing impact of the pandemic has left many educators wondering where their joy for teaching has gone and how can they get it back? In this teacher toolkit style professional text, The Joyful Teacher by Berit Gordon, we will unpack 11 areas where we can reignite our joy for teaching and learning to reimagine how we can be the teachers our students deserve in this new era of learning. Our students deserve joyful teachers, and we deserve to have joy as we teach. Let’s make this summer a marked moment in our careers to bring back our joy for teaching.

In this book study, we will talk through predictable obstacles that threaten to steal our joy, think through which strategies work best for each of our teacher styles, and collaborate with others in the learning community on weekly virtual calls.
