Empowering Students Through Blended Learning K-12

Overview

This online course will explore Blended Learning and the strategies used to pair engaging classroom teaching with engaging learning with online tools that allow students to control the pace, path, and place of their learning. Blended Learning strategies, which can be implemented in any classroom K-12, allows teachers to personalize learning to meet the needs of all students while helping students build autonomy and engage in authentic learning. In this course, participants will read research-based information, learn from videos and implement learning to design and/or transform current lessons/units into a blended format in order to make the best use of face-to-face time with students. 

Learning Outcomes:

  • Learn how blended learning meets students’ needs.
  • Learn how the SAMR technology framework can impact teaching and learning. 
  • Understand personalized learning and create personalized learning opportunities. 
  • Understand strategies to support student learning while helping to lessen the traditional teacher workload.
  • Be able to use a variety of technology tools alongside offline learning activities to empower students to become active learners.
  • Create a unit plan with blended learning structures. 

Graduate-Level Continuing Education: 

Three continuing education credits are available through MidAmerica Nazarene University at an additional cost of $90 per credit hour.
